It has been a while. I must say that I am not digging this repetitive intro that I am writing every time in a new post but yes for now that’s about it and I am constantly in a battle of being consistent with my writings. Not to mention that there is 453998 thousands (not in the exact figure) bunch of stuffs that needs more attention but today I figured that I would let myself to be immersed into creative writings — back in my comfort zone. Merely these days, writing here feels like an escapism because no one tells me to, but I still do write due to personal development that I’m striving for these days. So allow me, to have this space again ok?

Behind the scene of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This has been in drafts from God knows when which I only came across with when I scroll through the notes on my phone. Though this film has been around ever since 2004, this pretty much is a popular favorite among sci-fi romance goers. I have always doubt the magic of sci-fi and romance in the same context but this has to be in my never-will-I-forget-film list. Sci-fi has most commonly been associated with actions or futuristic elements in a film but rarely does a sci-fi and romance intertwine together in the same content. So here’s what I find interesting enough to share here is the common changes of Clementine’s hair in the film — to represent different periods in their relationship. She also has some quirky outfits to match her free-spirited nature, as she say — ‘I apply my personality in a paste’.

The colors of Clementine

Green Revolution

From what I can tell is that, Clementine with green hair in one of the last scenes in the film, where it is established that this is where her and Joel first meet. Clementine is wearing her orange sweatshirt, which we see so often in the film. The green hair represents freshness, nature and Clementines down-to-earth style.

Red Menace

This is mostly seen where Clementine and Joel was dating which the color represents the passionate feeling between the two of them that sometimes leads to unnecessary tensions.

Agent Orange

As Joel and Clementines relationship becomes more fraught, her hair becomes orange. This represents the fading away of desire from the early days of their relationship, and we begin to see the couple fighting regularly. Clementine also says her orange hair ‘matches her sweatshirt exactly’. This color is often worn with black clothing.

Blue Ruin

When Joel and Clementine are finally reunited, having previously erased all their memories of each other, Clementine has blue hair. This represents the freshness of starting over, but perhaps also the sadness of her and Joel splitting up. This is where the film leaves the couple.

Overall saying, the creativity of these elements implied in the film is what makes the movie more unforgettable besides the sci-fi features. Though it does not make sense at all for that to happened in our realistic world — but it somehow become close and relatable to most of the people due to the story behind. We should all totally dye our hair now.
